sixth day of creation – animal life on earth, and man
Genesis 1:24-31 speaks of the sixth day of creation. On this day God created first, all of the land-based creatures of every kind. Then, he created man and woman and put them in charge over every living being on earth.
How does this Biblical account stack up with what the scientists say according to their evidence? Well according to the evolution timeline from the previous study, we can see that 300 million years ago reptiles developed on land. This is about 700 million years after the development of sponges, jellyfish, shrimps and lobsters; and 200 million years after a creature with a skeleton evolved as a form of fish; and 50 million years after insects moved onto dry land from the seas.
We can also see that 75 million years after the reptiles, dinosaurs dominated the world; and 55 million years after that, mammals began to make their appearance on the planet. Finally about 230,000 years ago, about 169,770,000 years after the appearance of the mammals, humans evolved into what can be classified as Homo sapiens, among them the Neanderthal Man. Humans therefore were the last to appear.
Is not the sequence of evolution under science, and the Biblical account of creation, eerily identical? Again I asked the question, how could Moses have known this, which science is now confirming? Our egos are such that we would have put ourselves as being first in the evolutionary timeline, had we not known the truth. Moses knew the exact truth as confirmed late by science. To me the answer is quite simple. Only God, who is the only one who knows the former things, could have told him of this. Proving to me the existence of God, and the truth of the Bible.
The following is a timeline of evolution which I had included in our last discussion.
In the interest of keeping this as simple as possible, I have only taken those items in the timeline which are most relevant to this discussion.
According to this timeline, the following occurring.
- 3 billion years ago single celled water creatures such as algae, begin building your process of evolving into slightly more complex forms of life.
- One billion years ago sponges and jellyfish drift in the sea, to be joined later by more purposeful shrimps and lobsters.
- 500 million years ago earliest known creature with a skeleton evolves as a form of fish.
- 400 million years ago plants previously living only in the seas, begin to establish themselves on land.
- 350 million years ago insects become the first creatures capable of living their entire lives out of the water, and become the first to master flight.
- 340 million years ago amphibians developed lungs, enabling them to live on land as well as in the water.
- 300 million years ago reptiles developed evolutionary advantages for adaptation to a wide range of environments.
- 225 million years ago dinosaurs dominate the planet.
- 170 million years ago mammals begin to make their appearance on the planet.
- 150 million years ago a creature with both dinosaur and birdlike features exists.
- 125 million years ago primitive birds begin to feature in the fossil record.
- 65 million years ago mammals evolve in many new forms on land and in the water, using opportunities made possible by the extinction of the dinosaurs.
- 230,000 years ago humans evolve who can be classified as Homo Sapiens, among them the Neanderthal man.
