HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR
Young Joseph stood in manger dark, as child gently slumbered
His thoughts ran deep within his heart by physics unencumbered
He saw a glimpse of coming life, the child would have to bear
And as his heart was gripped with dread he offered anguished pray’r
He saw the goodness of his son, his love for all mankind
He saw him teach, he saw him heal, and sooth the troubled mind
But always lurking near his son he saw an evil presence
That dogged his steps at every turn and waited with great patience
Three years and thirty he gave chase in merciless pursuit
Until allotted time was spent, and evil now bore fruit.
He saw his son dragged through the streets, the flesh scourged from his bones
With heavy cross upon his back, he heard his anguished groans.
Then… as he watched his child sleep, the baby opened eyes
And as the father shook with rage, God opened up the skies.
And looking up the father saw his Son sit next to God
And as he saw Son’s glory shine, he stood transfixed and awed.
For at his feet stood multitudes of souls the Son had saved
For through his birth and gruesome death, the price for sin was paid.
